🎉 Icebreaker Activity: “I Met Someone Who...” Bingo
Start the year—or any new unit—with laughter, movement, and connection!
This interactive bingo game gets students talking, learning about one another, and laying the foundation for a positive, inclusive classroom culture. Perfect for the first week of school or a mid-year reset, this activity transforms simple icebreakers into powerful culture-building moments.
Objective:
Students will build connections, strengthen communication skills, and help create a welcoming classroom community.
What’s Included:
-
Teacher Instructions (with timing tips and extension ideas)
-
2 Student Bingo Sheets
-
Reflection prompts to deepen connection and empathy
Time Needed:
20–30 minutes
How It Works:
Students circulate the room completing their bingo sheets by meeting classmates who fit each description — from “has a pet” to “can speak another language.” Once everyone’s warmed up, use the included active learning extension to keep the energy going: have students move to corners of the room based on their interests and share fun facts with new peers.
Teacher Tip:
Use the reflection questions at the end to shift from “fun” to “meaningful.” When students see how getting to know each other changes how they work together, they start understanding what classroom culture really feels like.
Why Teachers Love It:
✔️ Quick and easy to implement
✔️ Builds trust and connection
✔️ Encourages movement and inclusivity
✔️ Perfect addition to your Culture Collection
